How nomination information is handled
The Customer Voice Awards use nominations to recognise independent local businesses through customer recommendation. This notice explains what information is collected, why it is used and how to contact the awards team.
Who is responsible for this information
The Customer Voice Awards are presented and administered by Alto Hearing. For questions about the awards or this privacy notice, email cva@altohear.co.uk.
What we collect
When someone submits a nomination, we may collect:
- the nominated business name and town or village;
- the nearest award area, if selected;
- the nomination text and the reason for recommending the business;
- the nominator's name and email address, if they choose to provide them;
- the consent confirmation submitted with the form;
- basic technical information needed to receive the form and protect the site from spam.
Why we use it
Nomination information is used to:
- review entries for The Customer Voice Awards;
- understand how a nominated business looks after its customers;
- contact a nominator if a detail needs to be checked and they have provided contact details;
- contact shortlisted or winning businesses;
- prepare winner profiles, award updates and local press activity where appropriate;
- keep a practical record of nominations and award decisions.
We rely on legitimate interests to receive and review nominations, run the awards and keep award records. Where identifiable personal details are used publicly, we will ask for permission where needed.
Who information is shared with
Nomination information may be seen by the awards team and trusted service providers who help operate the website and form. The nomination form is submitted through Splitforms. The website is delivered through Cloudflare, which supports hosting, security and performance.
Where a business is shortlisted or selected, relevant nomination details may be discussed with that business. If a nomination is quoted publicly, personal details will be removed unless permission has been given.
How long information is kept
General nomination records are normally kept for up to 24 months so the awards team can review seasonal entries, respond to queries and understand repeat nominations. Winner records, published profiles and award archive information may be kept for longer because they form part of the public record of the awards.
Cookies and tracking
The site does not currently use analytics tracking, advertising pixels or non-essential tracking cookies. If that changes, this notice will be updated and any required cookie consent controls will be added before non-essential tracking is used.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete personal information held about you. You can also object to how it is used or ask for its use to be restricted. To make a request, email cva@altohear.co.uk.

Changes to this notice
This notice may be updated as the awards develop, including if new form, analytics, email or content tools are added.
